Winter Swimmers: A Day In The Life
While the pandemic continues to rage on, our squad has found some peace and sense of routine in our Saturday Winter Swimming sessions. Our team has been lucky enough to have some very creative people in our midst. One of those happens to be photographer and up and coming videographer, Helen Cogan of Helen Cogan Photography. Her work is incredible, so please be sure to check her out on Instagram. She has been coming to our swims the past several weeks to document the progression of our squad’s ice swims. We wanted to showcase her work in this post. We hope it gets you motivated to try something new or even join the team! Winter swimming is not without its risks, so make sure you do your research before jumping in!
You cannot deny the power of the sea when you look at the joy on the faces of these swimmers in some very raw conditions.
"The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea."

ICE On The Water!
Helen’s latest work was from our swim on February 13th, 2021. This was a special day as we have never encountered water this cold before. We were achieving big things on this day and Helen was able to capture from special moments from our swim in 28F ocean temperatures and 16F air temperatures. We walked up to the water slipping on ice covered sand only to be met with chunks of ice littering the ocean as we entered the sea for our swim.
Winter Swimming Motivation
On February 6th, 2021, Helen came out to create a motivation video featuring the Endurance Swimming & One With The Ocean Boston squad. If you need some help getting off your butt to get your open water or triathlon training going, then this is the video for you. Put this on repeat and you will start crushing your goals!
Ice Swimming With Endurance Swimming
On January 31, 2021, Helen create the first video of our winter swimming journey. She captures the joy her teammates have from swimming in harsh conditions. We are lucky to have a safe place to swim and swimmers who are willing to try new things. Based on what you have seen, would you try winter swimming?
